Agaricus blazei Murrill
Agaricus blazei Murrill is a medicinal mushroom, a popular food that has low calorie content and is mineral rich. It contains important fibers, vitamins and amino acids.
In Brazil, they call it Cogumelo do sol or medicinel and in Japan they call is Himematustake, Agarikusutake or Kawarihiratakes. In China, it is known as Ji Song Rong. All over the world people are using this wonderful mushroom for food and health.
The mushroom originates in Piedade, a small village in the Atlantic forest near Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1960, a Japanese researcher named Takatoshi Furumoto discovered it and sent it to Japan in 1965 for study.
The mushroom is thought to have the following general benefits:
* Aids Diabetics
* Lowers Cholesterol
* Stimulates the Immune System
* Reduces physical & stress
* Prevents Peptic Ulcers & Osteoporosis
* Heals Digestive & Circulatory Ailments
How does Agaricus Brazil Mushroom Helps you to Fight Cancer?
* Agaricus Brazil Mushroom effectively fight cancer cells by enhancing the body's own immune system
* Researchers discovered that the Agaricus Brazil Mushroom is rich in two polysaccharide compounds, the Beta-1,3 D-glucan and Beta-1,6 D-glucan.
* Further studies revealed that the mushroom has been clinically found to be effective in improving almost most health problems
* Studies showed that the number of cancer cells generated in the body decreased considerably due to the polysaccharides found in the mushroom
* The mushroom was cited as a powerful antiviral agent that helped prevent viruses and harmful agents from entering delicate tissue.
* The polysaccharides found in the mushroom were found to be effective against Ehrlich’s ascites carcinoma (EAC), sigmoid colonic cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and liver cancer as well as most solid tumors.
Spirulina - The World's Healthiest Food
Spirulina is a blue-green algae which is believed to be the first form of plant life on earth, nearly 3.5 billion years old. Since its rediscovery in the 1960's, Spirulina has been extensively tested by scientists around the world. When taken daily it has been found to strengthens the body's defence mechanism. It is the richest source of vegetable protein (over 60%). Rich in beta carotene, iron, vitamin B-12 and the rare essential fatty acid GLA, it offers a unique mix of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. It is the ideal food supplement for weight loss diet. Researchers at NASA found it to be an excellent, compact space food for astronauts (1 kg. of Spirulina is equivalent to 1000 kgs. of assorted vegetables). International health organisations have hailed Spirulina as one of the "Greatest Superfoods on Earth". An ideal food supplement, Spirulina provides the body with all the essential nutrients required daily, leaving you fresh, active and energetic through out the day.
* Spirulina is a diet supplement and world's richest natural source of protein, iron, vitamins, and minerals.
* Helps weight loss.
* World's richest natural source of Pro-Vitamin 'A', helps protect your eyesight.
* Only vegetable source of vitamin B12, calms your nerves and fights stress.
* World's richest natural source of GLA , reduces cholesterol and benefits the heart.
* Best natural source of anti oxidants, a natural anti ageing drug. Help you stay young.
Spirulina is 65 to 71 percent complete protein, with all essential amino acids in perfect balance. A teaspoon of Spirulina supplies 2-1/2 times the Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamin B12 and contains over twice the amount of this vitamin found in an equivalent serving of liver.
A rare essential fatty acid is a key to health: Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in mother's milk helps develop healthy babies. Studies show nutritional deficiencies can block GLA production in your body, so a good dietary source of GLA can be important. Spirulina is the only other whole food with GLA.
World's highest beta carotene food reduces long term health risks: Spirulina beta carotene is ten times more concentrated than carrots. So even if you don't eat the recommended 4 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day (most people eat only 1-2, including french fries), get your natural beta carotene insurance from spirulina to help support your body's defenses.
Iron for women and children's health: Iron is essential to build a strong system, yet is the most common mineral deficiency. Spirulina is rich in iron, magnesium and trace minerals, and is easier to absorb than iron supplements.
Ginseng
Panax Ginseng is one of the world's most respected, most expensive herbs. This intriguing plant, whose value is found in its stained root, was discovered in the mountains of Northern China over 5000 years ago. Records show that ginseng has been an integral part of Chinese medicine for over 3000 years. In American several Indian nations revered ginseng for its curative powers and life enhancing abilities. /p>
In China, ginseng is classified as a kingly herb, a mild herb with no harmful side-effects that can help the body maintain peak health. Many Asians view ginseng as a regenerative elixir that, if taken over a period of time, can not only increase health and vitality, but can also prolong life. It is believed that ginseng makes the body more resistant to disease, prevents decline in potency in older men, restores virility, increases general vitality, negates some of the effects of stress and gives seriously ill patients strength, energy and stamina.
While most evidence of ginseng's effectiveness is more suggestive than conclusive, it does appear that ginseng helps facilitate metabolic equilibrium. Russian research shows that ginseng:
* Stimulates physical and mental activities in tired and weak individuals.
* Strengthens and protects the human organism when under prolonged strain.
* Stimulates and improves the working of the brain without the effects of a stimulant.
* Increases energy and physical endurance.
* Stimulates the functioning of the endocrine glands, including the sex organs.
Naturally, there has been a great deal of research done in Asia on ginseng and its many components. Some quality research done in China, Japan and Korea suggests that ginseng:
* Reduces fatigue and increases stamina.
* Helps the formation of red blood cells and helps to eliminate anemia.
* Improves mental conditions and helps prevent neuroses.
* Increases the secretion of body fluids and helps prevent diabetes. normalizes pulmonary functions, preventing coughing, tuberculosis and asthma.
* Strengthens the gastrointestinal system and can help facilitate liver regeneration.
* Detoxifies poisons, enhances blood alcohol clearance and reduces the effect of alcohol intoxication and helps eliminate hangovers.
Although ginseng is not a drug or a stimulant, many who use it, agree that if taken for a period of time, ginseng can increase feelings of well being, relieve fatigue and weak conditions and strengthen body functions. Reputable studies in Japan and the United States have shown that ginseng may help reduce cell damage, thus, help counteract age-related changes.
Omega-3
Omega 3 fatty acids are a nutritional element that first caught researchers' attention about 20 years ago – and what they discovered could have health benefits for anyone worried about a healthy heart.
In the early 1980s, studies showed that the Inuit had low rates of heart disease despite their high-fat diet rich in fish. It turns out the omega 3 fatty acids in the fish may be what protects their hearts, along with other health benefits.
Omega 3 fatty acids are poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Studies show that a diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids may help lower triglycerides and increase HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol). Omega 3 fatty acids may also act as an anticoagulant to prevent blood from clotting. Several other studies also suggest that these fatty acids may help lower high blood pressure.
Omega 3 fatty acids may protect against the accumulation in the body of a protein believed to be linked to Alzheimer's disease, according to the results of a new animal study published in the March 2005 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience. This study specifically investigated one particular kind of omega 3 fatty acids – Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and the results are encouraging.
With the increasing popularity of vegetarian diets though and mounting fears about mercury and PCBs in seafood, we use low-concentration of flax oil (which contains alpha-linolenic acids - or ALA) instead of fish oil.
Our bodies can convert ALA into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) - the beneficial elements of omega 3 – but the conversion process is slow. Be warned though if you are taking high concentration of ALA (as present in flax oil pills) which has been linked to higher risk of prostate cancer by some early research. Until more is known, men may be safest to choose fish oil for heart-healthy omega 3s instead of plant-sourced ALA if taken in high-dosage supplements.
L-Carnitine
The primary role of L-Carnitine within the body is to shuttle long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, the 'furnace of the cell'. Within the 'furnace', the fatty acids are broken down or burned and energy is produced. Thus, L-Carnitine is essential for the production of energy from fat!
Extensive research has shown the effectiveness of L-Carnitine in applications such as exercise, heart health, weight management, brain wellness and infant nutrition.
Carnitine like many biologically active molecules, may exist in two forms: L-Carnitine and D-Carnitine. The distinction between racemic D,L-Carnitine and the optically pure L-Carnitine is important because only the L-isomer is available from natural sources and is physiologically active. In fact, the D-form is biologically inactive and inhibits the uptake of the L-Carnitine. D-Carnitine is potentially harmful. Lonza's Carnipure™ production process directly produces the L-isomer. Products that carry the Carnipure™ quality seal on the packaging show the consumer that they contain pure L-Carnitine.
Carnipure™ and the Carnipure™ logo are registered trademarks of Lonza Ltd. and our assurance of outstanding quality. Lonza, the leading manufacturer and supplier of the bulk dietary supplement Carnipure™, is the only supplier who can guarantee 100% pure, natural L-Carnitine which have been extensively used and found in infant formula, multivitamins, functional foods and a wide variety of health products.
